Mix the flour, salt, sugar and yeast in a bowl. Add the milk and egg and mix into a dough.

Knead until smooth, then knead in the butter.

Cover and leave to rise until doubled.

Divide into 6, roll into long sausage shapes and flatten slightly.

Leave to rise again until puffy.

Bake at 180°C fan for 15–18 minutes until lightly golden.

Mix together all the garlic butter ingredients.

Lightly score the frankfurters and cook on a griddle pan until coloured.

Slice the buns open, spread with garlic butter and toast cut-side down until golden.

Add cheese and cooked bacon bits, close the buns and heat gently with a lid on until melted.

Add the hot dogs and top with caramelised onions, crispy onions, ketchup and mustard.
